- **Event Description**: The Monday Night Big Band is a biweekly performance as a part of the Capital Jazz Society Jazz series. It finds its roots in the same tradition as the Village Vanguard in New York City. The band is made up of a variety of musicians in the area and is different each week.      
Dr. Wade Howles is an accomplished saxophonist and educator with a rich background in jazz and classical music. He earned his Master of Music (2010) and Doctor of Musical Arts (2017) degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied under Dr. Paul Haar. Wade has performed with notable artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, and Stefon Harris, and won a Downbeat award in 2011 as a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Jazz Orchestra. He maintains a private saxophone studio and has mentored many successful students. Currently, he directs the 7th and 8th Grade Bands, Jazz Ensemble, and Big Band at Pound Middle School in Lincoln, NE, and previously served as the Director of Bands at Lakeview Community Schools in Columbus, NE, where he earned the 2019 NSBA Jack R. Snyder Outstanding Young Director Award. In addition, he teaches saxophone as an adjunct professor at Doane and Midland Universities.
