Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some drawing experience, this workshop is a chance to slow down, get creative and discover just how versatile and enjoyable pastels can be. You’ll be guided through how to sketch out your bird by breaking it down into simple shapes, build up layers of colour and detail, and use simple blending techniques to create softness, texture and depth.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:

A finished blue tit drawing to take home.
A mount to display your artwork in.
New skills and techniques for working with soft pastels and pastel pencils.
An introduction to the tools, materials and different papers available, and how choosing the right ones can help you get the most from soft pastels.
Greater confidence to continue exploring this wonderful medium at home.

No previous pastel experience is needed, and all materials are provided. Tea, coffee and biscuits are also provided, so you can settle in, enjoy a cuppa and make the most of your creative time. We also provide aprons.

Come along, try something new, learn some useful skills and leave with a finished piece of artwork you can be proud of.
