On March 21, Summits in Solidarity is hosting a hiking challenge in Franconia Notch, NH to kick off our Spring 2026 Hike-a-Thon, which aims to raise $50,000 for racial justice and outdoor access programs in New England.
At this event, participants will attempt to collectively hike 321 miles on trails in Franconia Notch between 12:00 am and 7:00 pm. Five sponsors will be donating $5 per mile for every mile participants log that day, up to 321 miles. If we make it to 321 miles, we will raise at least $8,000 during this event. If hikers and supporters throw in additional donations, we could make it to $10,000 on day one.
Check in with our volunteers at the Flume Visitor's Center (look for our founder Serena's truck, black Tacoma with white cap) anytime after 7 am to share your itinerary (or, if you're starting before 7am, email us ahead of time). Then, hike as many miles as you wish on any nearby trail you want---such as the Flume Bike Path, Old Bridle Path, Falling Waters Trail, or Liberty Springs Trail.
Not sure what to do? Hike with local Hoka and Burgeon athlete Philip Carcia. Phil is attempting to summit Mt. Pemigewasset as many times as possible from 7 am to 7 pm; show up at the Flume Visitors Center anytime in the 12-hour window to join him for his next lap(s). Community laps with Phil will happen at 7 am and 5 pm.
Whatever you choose to hike, be sure to stop by Serena’s truck at the Flume Visitor’s Center when you are done and log your miles by 7 pm.
Several Summits in Solidarity volunteers will be at the Flume Visitors Center parking lot from 7 am to 7 pm with hot drinks and baked goods. Hoka rep Toño Tovar will have Hoka shoes available for participants to demo on their hikes. Participants can also enter an exclusive raffle for an Arcteryx Alpha FL 30 pack, stays at local hostels, and a Full Send with Finding Philip. Drawing to take place at the end of the day. Stop by before and/or after your hike to refuel, win prizes, and make a contribution to Summits in Solidarity's fundraiser.
See you at the Flume!
Summits in Solidarity is based out of the mountains of the Wobanadenok which is the traditional ancestral homeland of the Abenaki and Wabanaki Peoples past and present. We acknowledge and honor with gratitude the land and waterways and the alnobak (people) who have stewarded the Wobanadenok throughout the generations.
