Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel was a German composer and pianist of the early Romantic era, widely regarded as a musical genius and the equally talented older sister of Felix Mendelssohn. She composed over 500 works, although most remain unpublished. 
Hiob Cantata is based on the Book of Job and is the second of three cantatas composed in 1831, although it remained unpublished until 1992. 
Felix Mendelssohn described Psalm 42 as “my best sacred piece.. The best thing I have composed.”
