Is a newly formed band consisting of four highly experienced musicians from Limerick Clare and Tipperary

These four individuals have come together to make some exciting new original music leaning heavily on jazz Improvisation with elements of traditional Irish and classical influences encompassing the use of loops and various motifs indicating a diverse range of new music entering the scene.

An interesting venture which should make for an entertaining watch.

Joe O’Callaghan would be a household name if he chose to base himself anywhere near a major metropolis. An extravagantly talented musician, with a particular devotion to six string pyrotechnicians like Alan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin, O’Callaghan… should be required listening for anyone interested in the guitar.” Joe was a member of many Irish jazz groups including Microclimate, Metier, Fuzzy Logic Ensemble, Sankhara, Magical Dog ,Electric Freeplay. Benjamins Boone’s Confluence a Grammy nominated album recorded in July 2024, And now the newly formed Shoshin.

John Daly has been at the forefront of the Irish music scene for over forty years. Currently Chairperson of Limerick Jazz Society now in its 44th year and Director of Limerick Jazz Festival in its15th year, He has been involved with every genre of music since the early 80’s. He has many recordings to his name and recently was part of a brand new album release in December 2025 with the John Donegan Trio called “Interfuse” He has been involved with many projects over the last 4 decades and is no stranger to many different musical situations.

Eddie O’Donovan is a limerick based guitarist who has been active in the local jazz scene for the past number of years. He is a regular performer with Limerick Jazz Workshop Big Band and Limerick City Big Band. In a smaller setting he performs in a trio led by Peter Hanagan, and has appeared at Limerick Jazz Festival. He featured at Doonbeg Jazz Festival in 2022 with the Paul McIntyre Quartet. Eddie is also a regular performer at corporate and private functions throughout the midwest with his own duo with saxophonist Helen Hasenfuss.

Eamonn Cotter, originally from Ennis but living in Kilmaley in Co. Clare for over 25 years, is a well known and respected flute player and flute maker. As a teacher and performer he has featured at the Willie Clancy Summer School, the Catskills Irish Arts Week, Scoil Éigse , Rencontre Musicale Irlandais in Tocane St Apre in France and at Masters of the Tradition in Bantry. He has toured widely both in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the United States. Eamonn has been a member of St. Flannan’s Ceili Band, the Tulla Ceili Band, and is a member of Shaskeen since 1989. He has recorded on many albums including his solo CDs The Knotted Chord As well as traditional music he also has a keen interest in Western Art music (he was awarded an ALCM diploma in 1985) and in jazz; is a member of the Limerick Jazz Workshop.
