Ziemassvētku ieskaņā koncertzālē “Lielais dzintars” uzstāsies “The King’s Singers”, kas tiek uzskatīts par vienu labākajiem “a cappella” ansambļiem pasaulē. Grupa Liepājā viesosies Eiropas tūres laikā, piedāvājot klausītājiem jaunu svētku programmu, kurā skanēs gan cerību un gaismas pielietās Adventes dziesmas, gan iemīļoti svētku hiti.
Jaunajai programmai mūziķi devuši nosaukumu “O! Christmas” (“O! Ziemassvētki”), godinot vairāk nekā tūkstoš gadu senās dziedāšanas tradīcijas Eiropas katedrālēs un klosteros. Adventes laikā kori un ansambļi tradicionāli dzied septiņus īpašos lielos antifonus (sakrālās sasaukšanās dziesmas), kuras vienmēr pavada burts “O!”. Mēs tiksim vesti mistikas un burvības pilnā ceļojumā uz dažādām valstīm, valodām, laikmetiem un žanriem, ko iedvesmojušas antifonu tēmas: “O Sapientia” (gudrība), “O Adonai” (jūdaismā viens no Dieva vārdiem), “O Radix Jesse” (Jišaja sakne), “O Oriens” (Rītazvaigzne) un “O Emmanuel” (viens no Jēzus vārdiem). Šo kompozīciju autoru lokā ir komponisti Francisko Gerrero (Francisco Guerrero), Bingenes Hildegarde, Džons Raters (John Rutter), Džeimss Makmilans (James MacMillan) un ansambļa bass Pīrss Konors Kenedijs.
Koncerta otrajā daļā “The King’s Singers” tembrāli krāšņajās harmonijās un aranžijās dzirdēsim populārākās Ziemassvētku dziesmas, to skaitā “Winter Wonderland”, “Silent Night”, “Jingle Bells”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” u. c.
“The King's Singers” ir kļuvis par zelta standartu “a cappella” dziedāšanai, uzstājoties uz pasaules lielākajām skatuvēm; grupa aizvada vairāk nekā 100 koncertu sezonā. Ansamblis iemantojis gan kritiķu, gan klausītāju atzinību ar nepārspējamu tehniku, muzikalitāti un daudzpusīgumu, kas izriet no vairāk nekā 55 gadu pieredzes dažādu izpildītāju sastāvos. Viens no galvenajiem grupas mērķiem vienmēr ir bijis paplašināt pasaules kora mūzikas kanonu, “The King's Singers” kopumā pasūtinājuši vairāk nekā 300 skaņdarbu, sadarbojoties ar 20. un 21. gadsimta ievērojamākajiem komponistiem, viņu skaitā ir Džons Taveners (John Tavener), Džo Hisaiši (Joe Hisaishi), Džūdita Bingema (Judith Bingham), Ēriks Vitakrs (Eric Whitacre), Ģerģs Ligeti, Lučāno Berio, Kšištofs Pendereckis un Toru Takemicu (Toru Takemitsu).

THE KING'S SINGERS. CHRISTMAS CONCERT
In anticipation of Christmas, the Great Amber Concert Hall will welcome The King’s Singers – one of the best a cappella ensembles in the world. The band will visit Liepāja as part of their European tour, offering a new festive program featuring Advent songs filled with hope and light, as well as beloved Christmas hits.
The new program is called O! Christmas, and it celebrates the more than a thousand years of singing traditions in European cathedrals and monasteries. During the Advent period, choirs and ensembles traditionally perform a series of Great O Antiphons (ritual call-and-response chants), each introduced by ‘O!’ We will take you on a journey full of wonder and magic through different countries, languages, eras and genres, inspired by antiphon themes: ‘O Sapientia’ (Wisdom), ‘O Adonai’ (one of the names of God in Judaism), ‘O Radix Jesse’ (Root of Jesse), ‘O Oriens’ (Dawn of the East), and ‘O Emmanuel’ (one of the names of Jesus). Among the authors of these compositions are Francisco Guerrero, Hildegard of Bingen, John Rutter, James MacMillan, and the bass player of the ensemble, Piers Connor Kennedy.
In the second part of the concert, The King’s Singers will perform beloved Christmas songs, including ‘Winter Wonderland’, ‘Silent Night’, ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas’, and others.
The King's Singers have become the gold standard for a cappella singing on the world's largest stages; they perform more than 100 concerts each season. The ensemble has earned the recognition of critics and listeners thanks to their outstanding technique, musicality and versatility, resulting from a total of over 55 years of experience with its various members. The artists are constantly learning new and unique repertoires, recording albums, and participating in various collaborative projects. The extensive discography of The King's Singers has resulted in numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and a place in the Gramophone Hall of Fame.
One of the ensemble’s main goals has always been to expand the world canon of choir music. They have commissioned more than 300 pieces and collaborated with the most notable composers of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including John Tavener, Joe Hisaishi, Judith Bingham, Eric Whitacre, György Ligeti, Luciano Berio, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Toru Takemitsu.
