*Reunion Update*

Before I go any further I feel a couple of shoutouts are needed, firstly to Daz Leaver for offering up the venue at no cost and secondly to Rob Meehan who has worked tirelessly in reaching out and contacting countless school friends from years gone by who are not on facebook as well as organising the event itself with Daz & myself. Also to our special guest band (drum roll please), pretty sure you’ve all worked it out! We know them affectionately as *Virgil Splint* who entertained us countless times in and out of school but their close friends will remember them as Pud, John & Tommy, and having seen them play at the Kings Head myself recently, their repertoire is even broader & as impressive than it was back then, and you’re all definitely in for a treat. Remember, you’re a Womble!
The function and adjoining rooms are ours to use all night so there will be “quieter areas” for those who need it, and we will likely have use of the main bar area later on in the evening when the football teams have left their post match hospitality.
The event itself is free of charge, apart from the bar of course ��, and don’t forget that partners are very much welcome and are encouraged to join us. We’re not getting any younger � and won’t have seen many for a long time so please try to remember your class letter so you can fill in a name sticker & class on arrival.
Although we will be asking for donations on entry, to cover the small cost that the band are charging (massive thanks to Pud on that too) and nibbles that will be available on the tables. Please note that we’re endeavouring to make sure, along with Virgil Splints performance, that most of our time together will be catching up with friends many of us haven’t seen for years and celebrating our collective BIG birthdays which is why we have opted for nibbles over a buffet.
Any money left over from the donations greatly received on the night will be donated to one or more charities related to those of us who sadly are no longer with us. Suggestions are most welcome.
We are also in the process of reaching out to our former teachers and letting them know they are more than welcome to come along to celebrate with us.
A few requests if I may:
We know that you have already but please continue to reach out to as many people as possible who you may still be in contact with, there are a number we haven’t been able to get hold of and undoubtedly there will be those who we may have regrettably forgotten.
We’ve calculated that there are going to be potentially upwards of 180 people plus there, including partners, and we can’t think of a way to be 100% accurate so if anyone can help with suggestions on that, we need to get as close as possible to make sure we don’t run out of alcohol on the night but equally that we don’t leave Daz & the club exposed with too much remaining afterwards.
A couple of asks please - Does anybody have a copy of the school photo that was taken in the first or second year at the lower Friary please? If we can get hold of pics of it to Daz that would be greatly appreciated. Also, please feel free to post as many pics as possible on here from our school days so that we can download them to use on the night.
Daz, Rob, myself & our partners, along with Pud, John and Tommy are all very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to Lichfield City on the night, to reunite, reacquaint and celebrate into the early hours making it an occasion for all of us to remember for a long time to come.
