- **Event Description**: While it may seem like botanists have already figured out most things about North America’s plants, recent research illuminates how much is still unknown about dynamic plant biogeography and biodiversity. Northwest Montana has one such gap, the Kootenai National Forest, which until now has lacked comprehensive, collections-based documentation of baseline plant distribution and diversity, despite its lush and heterogeneous landscape.

?? Join us for an engaging presentation with Marguerite Trost, a graduate student at the University of Wyoming working with the Rocky Mountain Herbarium, where she is pursuing a project-based Master’s degree in Botany. Over the past two years,
Marguerite's research conducting a vascular floristic inventory of the Kootenai National Forest has included collecting, identifying, and curating more than 10,000 specimens representing over 1,000 plant species, including many new state and county records, and even one first continental record, all of which are now housed at the herbarium.
