Walthamstow Colour Walk and Picnic 2025

Penny Rutterford, Sarah Corbett and Silvana Gambini invite you all to don your brightest and most colourful outfits and join this year’s Walthamstow Colour Walk and Picnic at 12.30 on Sunday 10th August 2025!!!

The main focus of the day will be visiting the 𝕄𝕠𝕣𝕣𝕚𝕤 𝕄𝕒𝕟𝕚𝕒 (𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯’𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘭) exhibition at the William Morris Gallery – more info here https://www.wmgallery.org.uk/

The activities for the rest of the afternoon will very much depend on the weather – please see below.

𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙡𝙡 - 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚:

The William Morris Gallery is about a 15-minute walk from Walthamstow Central Station which is on the Victoria Line or the Overground from Liverpool St/Chingford.
For anyone who doesn’t want to walk too far, get off the tube at Blackhorse Road and catch the 123 Bus which stops right outside the William Morris Gallery. The same bus also goes to the Town Hall. No worries then if you’re wearing vertiginous heels!

𝙄𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙧𝙮:

We will meet outside the front of the gallery at 12.30pm, take some photos and then go and visit the Morris Mania exhibition. Afterwards we will take more photos of costumes on the outside staircase at the back of the gallery and then camp out on the grass at the back of the gallery for a picnic (please remember to bring something to sit on – folding chair, blanket etc).

After we’ve picnicked, we will go on to Fellowship Square in front of the Town Hall to enjoy the dancing fountains – a five-minute walk from the gallery. There are lots of good photo opportunities there with the backdrop of the white Portland stone of the Town Hall or in the new Queen Elizabeth II Gardens at the back of the Town Hall.

Lastly, we will decamp back to the Bell Pub https://belle17.com/ on the corner of Forest and Chingford Roads which is a large pub and also has a beer garden.

𝙄𝙛 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜:

We will meet in the foyer of the gallery at 12.30pm and visit the Morris Mania exhibition and maybe have a coffee in the gallery café afterwards.

We will then decamp directly to the Bell Pub – which does food including Sunday lunch – for socialising and photographs. The beer garden does have a covered section too. Let’s hope for dry weather!
