- **Event Description**: E17 Open Gardens is returning for a memorable weekend in June, 2026. Gardens across Walthamstow will open their gates to celebrate wildlife, creativity and the many different ways we grow and use our green spaces.

This year we’re excited to be running alongside the Walthamstow Art Trail, bringing even more buzz and visitors to the neighbourhood.

Garden sign-ups are now open — from tiny, evolving wildlife plots to community gardens and designer gardens. If you’re proud of it, we want to see it!

                "description": "Walthamstow Village in Bloom is a volunteer-led community gardening group started in 2004. We maintain planters, flowerbeds, tree pits and any public spaces that require attention.\n\nWe meet on the first Saturday of every month until May when we add weekly Saturday and Wednesday evenings. We have a year-round list of activities that includes weeding, planting and pruning, litter-picking, re-painting street furniture, clearing and cutting back vegetation from footpaths and tending the Community Meadow. \n\nIn 2017 we joined 78 other finalists in Llandudno as we represented the London region in the prestigious Britain in Bloom UK-wide competition.\n\nAfter the hard work we've all put in we were thrilled and delighted to win a national GOLD award and the RHS Growing Communities award with Helen Lerner scooping Community Champion of the Year!\n\nThe other results in our category were Aldridge, Walsall (Heart of England) - Gold, Clifton, Bristol (South West) - Silver-Gilt, Didsbury, Manchester (North West) - Gold, Littleover, Derby (East Midlands) - Silver, Starbeck, Harrogate (Yorkshire) - Silver Gilt, and Uddingston, Glasgow (Scotland) - Gold.\n"
