Tarta Relena - Celebrating the Possibilities of the Human Voice

Barcelonaʼs Tarta Relena reimagines Mediterranean vocal traditions with fearless experimentation, blending sacred and profane, ancient and modern. Their contrasting timbres intertwine with electronic textures, creating complexity from simplicity and maximum expression from minimal means. We heard them at GlobalFest at Lincoln Center in 2024 and knew we had to bring them to Lexington.

Also featuring: Meara O'Reilly's Hockets for Two Voices
Meara is a composer and artist, focusing on perception and new musical interfaces. Her Hockets for Two Voices album was released on Cantaloupe in 2019. It was named in several year-end best of lists, including Art Forum, Bandcamp, and Second Inversion. For this performance, Hockets for Two Voices will be performed by Mingjia Chen & Linnea Sablosky.
