Join Safiya for a fun Raqs Assaya Choreography Class this session....what is Raqs Assaya?? It is Dancing with a Stick or Cane!
Many Cultures across the World have Folkloric style dances with sticks or canes.
In this Session we will be working specifically on how the Cane/Stick is used in the Egyptian Culture for stage shows. It is a mixture of Folkloric technique from several regions of Egypt and artistry and personality of the professional performers in Cairo.
The style uses fancy footwork, strong hip articulations, shimmies, and a variety of undulations, as well as a good dose of sass and sensuality to make a unique dance form that will make you feel empowered and feminine!
Safiya will have Canes available for purchase at the first class!
BUT we also have plenty of Canes in Studio you can borrow!!
No prior experience needed to take these classes.
COST: $60 for 6 Week Session, Drop in Fee is $15.00 or use a Class Card or ask about our Month Unlimited Fun Pass!
