Join Robert Jones, Chinese Historian, as he explores the important role of the horse in early Chinese history. From their use in chariots and cavalry to their influence on the expansion of the empire, discover how horses shaped Chinese civilization and became deeply woven into the culture and mythology of the Chinese people.

About Our Speaker:
Robert Jones was born in New Jersey and earned his college degrees in California and Kentucky. He is a Chinese specialist, holding a B.A. in Chinese language, an M.A. in early Chinese archaeology, and a doctorate in comparative humanities. He lived in Taiwan for nearly a decade and traveled extensively throughout China. Jones later became a professional guide, leading nearly 300 trips to Asia, and taught Chinese language at St. Francis High School for over a decade. His connection to Kentucky’s horse culture inspired his doctoral dissertation on the history of the horse in early China, with a special focus on artistic renditions of this equine animal.

EquineEd is a free monthly lecture series at the Kentucky Horse Park, open to all.
