Medieval Banners and Pennants

Discover the colorful world of medieval heraldry and the banners and pennants that once decorated castles, marketplaces, and battlefields. This program introduces participants to real historical examples and explores how these vibrant symbols helped people identify families, communities, and military groups in the Middle Ages.
We’ll look at how banners were made in the past and discuss simple, modern ways to create them today. Participants will also be invited to experiment with designing their own personal heraldry, using the same principles that guided medieval artists and storytellers. No artistic experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore a bit of history.
