The September 12th workshop will focus on Getting Little Feet Wet and is for early childhood through 2nd grade educators. Learn a variety of methods and activities to enhance the teaching of science to youth and how to effectively add engaging hands-on activities to lesson plans and programs.

State of Illinois licensed teachers may earn certified professional development units. Informal educators, including youth and scout group leaders, nature center educators, children’s librarians, and Master Naturalists, are also encouraged to attend.

These are national programs designed to offer multi-disciplinary, hands-on activities for all grade levels that are correlated with state and national academic standards, including early childhood standards from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the North American Association of Environmental Educators (NAAEE) as well as Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, and the C3 Framework.

There is no cost to attend; however, registration is required at https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/328845119 for planning purposes. Participants will receive a personal copy of the activity guide, a certificate of completion, and ISBE credits if applicable.
