We’re thrilled to invite you to a book signing and reading event celebrating the release of Grey Sea Rising, the debut novel by local indie author Maggie Beckstrand, on 📌 Thursday, August 14th from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Lewiston Library.
Maggie Jane Beckstrand is an author, soft pastel artist, and traditional book binder with an old soul and a deep love for history, storytelling, and the quiet beauty of handmade things. She is the founder of Maggie Jane Studio and The Eva LaPrele Bindery, where she creates with words, soft pastels, and vintage-inspired, heirloom-quality, hand-bound journals meant to be treasured for generations.
Maggie grew up in North Logan, Utah and her love for storytelling began in childhood, nurtured by bedtime stories read aloud by her mother and spent her days writing tales in spiral notebooks. She won her first writing awards starting at the age of seven at the Cache County and Utah State fairs, won multiple awards throughout her school career, and has been chasing the magic of a well-told story ever since.
Her novel, set against the stormy 1942 coast of Maine, Grey Sea Rising is a nostalgic, character-driven mystery steeped in wartime secrets, deep friendship, and small-town intrigue. Follow the journey of an artist and a baker—two best friends—whose quiet harbor town is shaken when a stolen painting resurfaces, unearthing a long-buried truth.
