- **Event Description**: Your Lewiston firefighters will once again host the annual Fill the Boot fundraiser on Saturday, August 22, at the intersection of 19th Avenue and 21st Street in Lewiston. For more than 30 years, the Lewis-Clark Valley has embraced this tradition, contributing well over a quarter of a million dollars to help families living with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases.

The partnership between the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) began in 1954 and has become one of North America's longest-running charitable partnerships. Funds raised through Fill the Boot support groundbreaking research, expert care through MDA Care Centers, family services, advocacy, and the development of new treatments for more than 300 neuromuscular diseases.

This year's campaign carries special meaning close to home. In recent years, several children in the Lewis-Clark Valley have been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases. As Local 1773's ambassador, Emery Schumacher represents the many local children and families living with these conditions. With Emery's help, your Lewiston firefighters hope this year's campaign will not only raise critical funds but also increase awareness that these diseases affect families right here in our own community.

Your Lewiston firefighters invite the community to support the 2026 Fill the Boot campaign on Saturday, August 22, at 19th Avenue and 21st Street.
