- **Event Description**: Join ecologists from the West Virginia Dept. of Natural Resources for a 2-day educational FREE workshop series on how to conserve our nocturnal wildlife in West Virginia!

Join us, Friday night July 17th for a educational mothing event at Wood Thrush Park in Lewisburg! We'll kick things off at 7pm with an introductory presentation on ALAN and our goals for the workshop. We will then head outside to see some nighttime insects, starting with fireflies and ending with moths. Mothing will run until 11pm, but you are free to come and go as you like.

On Saturday, July 18th, the day's activities will begin at 8am with a bird and wildflower walk with an ecologist on the property. 

The remainder of the morning and afternoon will be occupied by presentations on the effects of ALAN (Artificial Lights at Night) on birds, bats, fireflies, moths, and other wildlife groups and an assortment of actions we can take to reduce ALAN. 

We will break for lunch and dinner (not provided) from 12pm-1:30pm and 5pm-6:30pm, respectively. After dinner, we will reconvene to discuss landowner partnership programs for conservation, have a moth ID lesson, and go mothing!

You can come and go as you please, a schedule of speakers will be released closer to the date! We hope to see you there!
