You may be consumed with what's happening nationally, but looking at how this impacts you locally is just as crucial. Presented by Aaron Troisi, the Political Director for SEIU Healthcare, this lesson will discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and its impact, especially concerning the Medicaid cuts hitting Pennsylvania.

Aaron Troisi, M.Ed., is Political Director of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth’s largest healthcare union, bringing together more than 45,000 nurses, caregivers, and frontline staff in hospitals, nursing homes, home care, and state facilities. He has led field and political campaigns to pass safe staffing regulations in PA nursing homes, permanently increase healthcare funding and accountability to ensure that public dollars go toward care, pass Medical ID Badge laws to protect staff, and guide the Patient Safety Act and the Healthcare Workplace Violence Prevention Act through passage in the State House. Aaron is also active on the federal level, coordinating multiple coalitions to protect Medicaid and critical healthcare access, and leading campaigns to hold those in power accountable to working people. 

A labor, community, and political organizer for more than 20 years, Aaron has founded, grown, and led coalitions in Philadelphia that saved multiple community schools from closure, passed citywide earned sick-day legislation, and severed the city’s multi-billion-dollar contract with Wells Fargo bank for racist predatory lending practices. Having grown up in a rural Northern PA county, Aaron brought his brand of building power home to Lewisburg, where he has founded multiple youth organizing groups and community activities. 

Having worn many hats in the movement - from Nursing Home Director to Nurses of Pennsylvania Executive Director - Aaron has learned that each new crisis brings new challenges, but also new opportunities if we do our work right as working people taking collective action together. An organizer at heart, Aaron relies on his background in theater and education to add dynamism and impact to the political, electoral, advocacy, and field campaigns he leads across the state.
