- **Event Description**: Is your child beginning to go out independently and you'd like to equip them with some basic skills to keep themselves safe from tricky people?
This course will teach your children the basics of situational awareness, interacting with strangers and what warning signs to look for and enable them to get away before they even need to consider using techniques.
There will be some basic self defence strikes, guards and the chance to have a go at scenarios and the fist suit.

Session 1 (16/09) will be an introduction to the Walk Wise code followed by basic strikes and distance management.
Session 2 (30/09) will consist of an experience at striking a man in a padded suit and consolidating on strikes.
Session 3 (7/10) will be focusing on ground defence and what to do if they fall.
Session 4 (21/10) will focus on escaping various grabs.
Session 5 (18/11) will cover knife defence and what to do if confronted with a knife - Please rest assured that with my police background, I will not be teaching any "disarming" techniques or anything silly and dangerous seen in martial arts or courses with non qualified instructors! 
Session 6 (25/11) will be a scenario session to consolidate what they have learned in the whole course, including a recap of any techniques they want to work on.
