Skribe plays an oil can called a canjo-zookie. It’s an eight-string guitar with a biting, blues-y rasp. Skribe’s got the voice (and the old-school Cadillac) to match. Accompanying himself on the suitcase-kick and hi-hat, Skribe’s “M.I.Y.” is a barn-burning roots number. - Ben Naddaff-Hafrey NPR 2020 Baltimore Alternative Music Award - Best Packaging for the Birdwatching 7" 2019 Rammie Award - Best Local Band - Rams Head Annapolis 2018 - Skribe’s song ‘common ground’ at #245 on WTMD Radio’s BEST 897 songs 2003-’18. Anthony Frijia has his audience laughing one minute, and crying the next. A renowned songwriter and storyteller, Frijia was recently voted "Baltimore's Best Local Artist" in the Baltimore Reader's Poll, after the release of his 11-track indie rock record "The Artifacts of Letting Go".
His career as a recording artist has been one of constant evolution and reinvention; from his start as a band leader playing small local festivals in Maryland, to a stint as a west coast van dweller, where he refined his "nomadic americana" sound- defined as a one-man-band's effort to "do the most you can with as little as possible", to, most-recently, an effort to fully immerse himself in folk music- Frijia has taken many turns all while staying on course as an artist fully dedicated to writing great songs and playing them live.
Fusing folk, blues, and country influences, Frijia's songwriting and stage presence have captivated audiences in the Mid-Atlantic, and across the country, as he's spent most of the last decade relentlessly touring the states in his old chevy van. His knack for storytelling and a great lyric have never been more evident than on "The Snuggery Sessions"- Frijia's first ever live release (October 2025).
Recently, you may have seen Anthony Frijia sharing the stage with nationally-recognized acts Pressing Strings, Joey Harkum, or Caleb Stine.
