---------------------
Janet DeLaine, Emeritus Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford, is a leading authority on Roman architecture and urbanism. After completing her doctorate at the University of Adelaide and a Rome Scholarship at the British School, she held posts at the University of Reading and later at the University of Oxford, where she taught until her retirement in 2018. Her research has shaped the archaeology of construction, most notably through her award-winning monograph The Baths of Caracalla in Rome (1997), alongside studies on Roman baths, the building industry, and the urban development of Ostia, the principal harbour city of Rome.
She will present a lecture entitled Men (and women) at work: the lives of Roman builders, based on research currently in the process of publication.
We hope to see you there!
