101 Exhibition Way South, Lethbridge, Canada
Join library staff and leaders from across Southern Alberta for The Informed Library, a full‑day learning opportunity featuring James Turk. This gathering will bring together up to 100 participants for a practical and thought‑provoking exploration of how libraries can strengthen their capacity to support and uphold Intellectual Freedom within their communities.
Taking place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition Agri‑Food Hub and Trade Centre, this session is designed for both frontline employees and leadership teams working in small and mid‑sized public libraries. Through guided discussion, interactive learning, and applied exercises, attendees will begin developing tools and confidence to engage the public in respectful, informed conversations about Intellectual Freedom.
Participants will be introduced to approaches for communicating with patrons and community members about challenging topics, along with resources to support those conversations. The session will also touch on foundational elements of writing or strengthening Intellectual Freedom policies within library organizations.
Lunch will be provided from 12:00–1:00 p.m., with additional session details and a full agenda to follow.
Also check out other Exhibitions in Lethbridge.
