- **Event Description**: RSA200: Celebrating Together is a national programme marking the 200th anniversary of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture.

The Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) is one of the oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions in Scotland. It is an independent, artist-led organisation of art and architecture with links to every part of Scotland and beyond. The Academy has a year-round programme of exhibitions, artist opportunities and events including New Contemporaries, an exhibition in Edinburgh of work by graduates selected from across Scotland. The RSA Collections contain over 10,000 artworks representing the best of Scotland's art and architecture of the last 200 years.

To mark the RSA's bicentenary, Sandy Wood, Head of Collections, will give an illustrated talk about the past, present and future of this unique organisation, ahead of the opening at the Shetland Museum & Archives of an exhibition exploring the work of RSA Honorary Academician, Hugh MacDiarmid. He will give insights into the Collections, artists and some of the many links there are between Shetland and the RSA.

This talk is delivered as part of RSA200: Celebrating Together, a year-long project connecting artists, galleries, museums and institutions across Scotland and beyond, supported by Museums Galleries Scotland. Find out more here.
