- **Event Description**: This guided autumn walk follows a 15-mile linear section of the Offa’s Dyke Path, one of Britain’s best-known long-distance national trails, taking us from Kington to Hay-on-Wye through some of the finest border countryside.
Although the earthwork of Offa’s Dyke itself isn’t visible on this section, the route closely follows the historic line of the England–Wales border, offering a real sense of journey through a landscape shaped by centuries of history, farming and movement. The Offa’s Dyke Path is walked by people from across Britain and overseas, and this section is a particularly beautiful and satisfying one.

We begin in Kington, climbing steadily onto Hergest Ridge, where expansive views open out almost immediately. From here, the route undulates over rolling hills, passing through open fields, small hilltop moors and quiet woodland, with constantly changing scenery. The walking is varied and engaging without involving mountains or technical terrain.

As we make our way south, the landscape gradually leads us down towards the River Wye, with Hay-on-Wye coming into view ahead, its castle a familiar landmark drawing us onwards. The walk finishes with a memorable moment as we cross the bridge over the Wye, bringing this long and satisfying day on the trail to a close.

Covering approximately 15 miles, this walk is challenging because of its length, but otherwise very manageable. It will appeal to walkers who enjoy a sense of achievement, those keen to complete a section of a national trail, and also to people who may not usually walk this far but would like to try a longer distance with the support of a professional walk leader. 
The pace will be steady and well managed, with time to stop, rest, refuel and enjoy the views.
