# Event Details - **Event Name**: Blackthorn Ritualistic Folk Wassail at Newton Court - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 17 Jan, 2026 at 05:00 pm – Sat, 17 Jan, 2026 at 10:30 pm - **Event Description**: Honour the Old Ways with Blackthorn Ritualistic Folk as they perform their annual Wassail at Newton Court.About this EventAs Darkness falls join Blackthorn Ritualistic Folk for their annual Wassail at Newton Court for a evening of dance, songs, tunes and ceremonies…the orchard will be wassailed…the Wassail King and Queen crowned and bonfires lit!Gates open at 5pm and will be closed at 5:55pm, our performance will begin at 6pm. You will be greeted by folk beasts on your arrival, Blackthorn shall first perform dances, songs and tunes outside the Chapel of Apple then we will hold our fire torch procession to the old orchard where we will begin our main Wassail ceremony. We will end the evening with songs and tunes from our members back inside The Chapel Of Apple.This will all take place at the wonderful Newton Court in Leominster, Herefordshire at their licensed premises The Chapel Of Apple, where they will be serving homecooked hot food, warm and cold beverages from soft to alcoholic all from their working cidery.Food available:Chicken Tikka Marsala (gf)Vegetable, chickepea & coconut curry (ve,gf)Bombay potatoes (ve,gf)Sticky rice (ve,gf)Important information:• You MUST have a parking ticket to park on site as we only have so many spaces available and there is nowhere else for you to park your vehicle around the venue, we can't except any vehicles in without a pre brought parking ticket, no parking tickets will be available on the gate.• This is a ticketed event, we will not be selling tickets on the gate or allowing entry to anyone without a pre brought ticket/s.• Gates open at 5pm and not before, they will then be closed at 5:55pm ready for us we start the proceedings at 6pm, the gates wont be opened again until 7:30pm.• Please car share or bring small vehicles only, we have limited parking available.• No alcohol to be brought onto site.• Performance will start at 6pm.• Last orders at the bar is 10:30pm.• All children to be supervised at all times.• Only well behaved dogs allowed which must be kept on a lead at all times. (There will be a shotgun fire as part of our ceremony so please be aware of this)• Dress appropriately for the weather/walking and standing in an orchard, warm old clothing, waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, boots or wellies.• There will be a procession to the orchard where we will be holding our main wassail which will be uneven and possibly wet or icy please take care, unfortunately there is no disabled access to the orchard.• There will be bonfires and smoke.• Refunds available 5 days before the event.* Disclaimer: Blackthorn Ritualistic Folk and Newton Court take no responsibility for, and expressly disclaims all liability for, damages of any kind including personal injury and property damage. Anyone who attends this event do so at their own risk. We will as always put measures into making the event as safe as possible but it is your responsibility to ensure that you, and anyone joining you, are using the fire candles in a safe and responsible manner and that you stay a safe distance away from the performance area and bonfires. Only light the fire candles when asked to do so and if it is safe for you to do so, dispose of candles in the bonfires provided, do not bring them back into the car park or buildings. All children must be supervised at all times and no alcohol to be brought on to site.
