Roll with us! Learn how to make Japanese gyoza, handcrafted artisanal dumplings, using the traditional technique. This is a hands-on course led by Josh Springer, head chef and Katie Liu-Sung, owner of CHEWOLOGY.

We will demonstrate our gangster-selling pork & cabbage filling recipe and discuss dough secrets! You will work in groups of four to create gyoza from raw dough to finished product. We’ll feed you while you learn and even send you home with a gyoza making tool in the CHEWOLOGY Tote Bag! Make Sunday, a funday; let’s do {Dumpling} fun! We are excited for the opportunity to swap stories with you all while cooking!

*Non alcoholic drinks will be provided, alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

GROUPS: Students will work in groups of four. If you plan to come as a group, no worries! You'll get seats with all your friends, even if you book separately. Just tell us your friends' names when you check into the class and we'll seat you together.

About the instructors:

Katie Liu-Sung is the owner of CHEWOLOGY. Born in Taiwan; raised in L.A.; matured in the mid-west; all these places have one thing in common - known for their own characteristic of food scene. You are what you eat, especially the influence it has to the mind and soul from the cultures, the ethnicities, and the stories behind the food. Growing up spending about a decade each in three very different cultures has impacted greatly on Katie’s gastronomic journey. She opened her permanent location at the Lenexa Public Market October 22, 2017.

Josh Springer is the head chef of CHEWOLOGY.

CLASS INFORMATION AND POLICIES

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: 6 p.m. on September 23

TICKETS AND ADMISSION: No tickets are issued for classes. Your name will be on an attendee list in The Kitchen. Admission to the kitchen will begin at the scheduled class start time.

CATEGORY: Technique and Skill

CLASS FORMAT: Combination of Instructor-Led with class participation

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

RECOMMENDED PARTICIPANT AGE: 16 +
(Ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult with their own ticket)
