Lena Public Library Hosts Unique Sloth Experience for Summer Reading Program
The Lena Public Library is excited to announce a special event as part of this year's Summer Reading Program, themed "Color Our World." On Thursday, July 24th, at 1 PM, the library will host an extraordinary Sloth Experience featuring Stella, a Linnaeus’s Two-Toed Sloth.
This 90-minute program will offer attendees a rare opportunity to meet Stella up close and learn about these fascinating creatures. Following the presentation, there will be a meet and greet with Stella, allowing participants to interact with her and ask questions.
Stella was born and bred in the United States by a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience in breeding sloths for zoos and educational facilities. She is very bonded to her handler, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for all attendees. The program aims to educate the community about sloths and their conservation, highlighting the importance of protecting these amazing animals in the wild.
In addition to the Sloth Experience, there will be tables set up in the gym entry area for registration, donations, and library card sign-ups. The event is expected to draw a large crowd due to the excitement and popularity of the program.
The Lena Public Library is proud to support The Sloth Conservation Foundation, aiding sloth rescue, research, and rehabilitation. Attendees are encouraged to follow Stella's adventures on Instagram @stella_the_sloth_ and consider donating to support sloth conservation efforts.
This event is FREE to the public as part of the Lena Public Library Summer Reading Program. Support local public libraries by attending this event!
