Das nennt man dann gerne Post-Black-Metal. Die Band spricht von „ecstatic black metal“, und das mit Fug und Recht: Blastbeats, hohes Geschrei und – anders als sonst im Genre – wunderschöne Gitarrenmelodien und -flächen, die einem immer wieder Glückstränchen in die Augen treiben.

Das ist alles nicht komplett neu: Die hohe Hackfrequenz kennt man von , die Euphorie von Deafheaven, das Insistieren auf der Schönheit von Queerness von Liturgy. Die Konsequenz und Verspieltheit aber, mit der hier zum Beispiel in repetitiv-melodiösen Krachwalzen wie „My Garden“, dem punkigen Micah (5.15am)“ und dem Midtempo-Malstrom „Bodhidharma“ Black Metal von seinen toxischen Unterströmen befreit und zu einem ekstatischen Noisefest ummodelliert wird, ergibt schon eine sehr eigensinnige, überfließende Musik.
