Winter often means quieter tracks and shorter daylight hours, but it’s still a time when dogs and kiwi can unexpectedly cross paths in the areas we know are home to kiwi, including the buffer zones around Tāwharanui and Maunga Tamahunga. A single encounter can be fatal for a kiwi, even from the gentlest family pet.

These quick 10-minute sessions are a simple but powerful way to help your dog learn to avoid kiwi scent. Guided by an experienced trainer using specialised training techniques, the sessions are safe, effective, and suitable for working dogs, hunting dogs and family pets alike.

Whether your dog is new to the programme or due for a refresher, now is the perfect time to get trained before winter adventures on our beaches, tracks and rural landscapes.
