- **Event Description**: Now is the time to make your voice heard, learn more and connect with others at the second catchment plan workshop for the wider Matakana region at Matakana School on Sunday June 14.

The focus will be on the current state of the catchment, where there are hot spots that have the potential to cause harm in the catchment and what is already being done to mitigate problems.

Friends of Awa Matakanakana (FOAM) volunteers have tested water throughout the catchment for six years and worked with landowners to plant riverbanks and steep hillsides to reduce erosion and they will share these stories at the second workshop.
Steve Hathaway, the founder of Young Ocean Explorers, will share his perspective of the impact of sediment and what’s happening under the water in Kawau Bay and beyond.

There will be a presentation from a specialist who has reviewed the catchment to identify where the community should prioritise some of its remediation efforts to improve water quality and health.

The doors of Matakana School hall will open at 12:30pm for a light lunch and the workshop starts at 1pm.
