Session Aims:

The Reducing Parental Conflict Programme is funded by the DWP based on EIF research. In the East Midlands we are taking a regional approach, working together to share resources and plan for positive change for children and families.

Co-parenting adults argue and disagree for a number of reasons. When arguments become a frequent part of day to day life for children, when they are exposed to intense arguments, or when arguments are not resolved well, evidence shows that children are at more risk of multiple negative outcomes. This programme is designed to upskill staff that work with families.

Session Objectives:

Module 2: Recognising and Supporting Parents in Parental Conflict

Recognising relationship stress and when it causes harm; signs of domestic abuse and your responsibilities; identifying and discussing parental conflict triggers; supporting parents to recognise where change is needed.

Suitable for front line staff who have regular or intensive contact with parents/carers (eg support workers, health visiting teams, pastoral staff)

Module 3: Working with Parents in Conflict

Levels of conflict and appropriate support; recognising domestic abuse and taking action; conversations with parents/carers in conflict; tools and techniques to resolve destructive conflict; local and national resources.

Suitable for front line staff who have regular or intensive contact with parents/carers (eg support workers, health visiting teams, pastoral staff)
