Steady pace. 1.2 miles.Information about the pace of our walks (and much more) can be found on our Leicester City Council Group Walks page.Join us for a new walk discovering locations and stories of heritage interest in the area around Corporation Road. We include Abbey Pumping Station, the Space Park, a local brewery and pub, a mid-19th-20th century funeral director, and the 'homes for heroes' designed by Arthur Wakerley in the 1920s. This walk is presented by one of our Walk Volunteers.Please note: This walk includes information about the funeral practices of the 19th-20th century which (while fascinating) may be a sensive topic for some.Booking informationThis short walk is free to attend, but numbers are limited so please book via Eventbrite to secure your place or phone 0116 454 2860 when booking has opened. Please note our phone line is answered during office hours only (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm), not at weekends or bank holidays.If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel via Eventbrite or contact us by phone (during office hours)so we can allow others the opportunity to attend.TravelAbbey Lane is served by buses. Paid car parking is available nearby at the National Space Centre. You will receive an email in the days leading up to the event with information about how to complete the form. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).Dress for the weatherRemember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather.
