Together, they will explore how boxing offers a powerful lens through which to understand the histories of migration, race, ethnicity and belonging in modern Britain.Reflecting the themes of Black History Month, the discussion will consider the profound contribution of Black British boxers and communities to the sport, while also examining the wider experiences of migrant and minority groups whose stories have shaped boxing and, in turn, British society. Drawing on research from the new book, the conversation will highlight the ways in which the boxing ring has been a site of both opportunity and prejudice, resistance and identity. The event will conclude with an audience Q&A. Whether you are interested in sport, history, race and ethnicity, or modern Britain, this promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking evening.Provisional timetable:4.45pm onwards - Arrival, Receptionc5.30pm - In Conversation beginsc6.15pm - Q+A7pm - Event Finish https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/1699cf60-bf4a-11f1-bf96-33a8fc21c298-rimg-w490-h740-dcf8f8f8-gmir.jpg - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/leicester/book-launch-migrants-minorities-and-the-history-of-british-boxing/100001993444369772 - **Event Categories**: sports, art, fine-arts - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Duration: 2 hours - Location: De Montfort University, Hugh Aston 0.08 - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 0, max: 0, currency: GBP ## Event venue details - **city**: Leicester - **state**: EN - **country**: United Kingdom - **location**: De Montfort University, Hugh Aston 0.08 - **lat**: 52.6293097 - **long**: -1.1378169 - **full address**: De Montfort University, Hugh Aston 0.08, Gateway House, Leicester, United Kingdom ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: Book Launch - Migrants, Minorities, and the History of British Boxing - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events10/banners/0f23e4f255788d68f5a2fc777c7b119eccc783193d9bdf0100e96bbe18b6026b-rimg-w994-h1500-dcf3f1f2-gmir.jpg?v=1784989964 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is Book Launch - Migrants, Minorities, and the History of British Boxing being held? - **A:** Book Launch - Migrants, Minorities, and the History of British Boxing takes place on Wed, 21 Oct, 2026 at 05:00 pm to Wed, 21 Oct, 2026 at 07:00 pm at De Montfort University, Hugh Aston 0.08, Gateway House, Leicester, United Kingdom. - **Q**: Who is organizing Book Launch - Migrants, Minorities, and the History of British Boxing? - **A:** Book Launch - Migrants, Minorities, and the History of British Boxing is organized by David Dee. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
