Join us for The Curve’s Festive November IoT event for an evening of networking and tech related conversations. We've been enjoying hosting these events in a series of locations —bringing together industry experts, cutting-edge tech, and the latest IoT insights.
Our CEO and Co-founder, Paul Ridgway will be hosting a demonstration based around RTLS (Real Time Locating System), that is used to automatically identify and track the location of objects or people in real time. This is typically used in scenarios to track equipment throughout a manufacturing plant or medical equipment within a hospital, however Paul will demonstrate more use cases that are available to organisations to drive digital growth and improve efficiency.
Our IoT partner Blecon and their Founder, Simon Ford, will also be joining us to take part in the demonstrations and discussions, sharing their insight into the technology and how they have helped organisations implement and adapt processes.
You can Expect:
🔌 Live IoT demos🍸 Drinks & snacks🎉 Interactive installations🤝 Brilliant minds & conversations.
A great opportunity to connect with industry leaders, explore cutting-edge innovations, and gain insights to transform your organisation. Stay tuned for updates on Speakers and specific topics! More to be revealed soon 👀
Our past events have always had a great turnout and have been a great opportunity to bring together members of the Sheffield Tech community for interesting discussions and networking, so we hope you can make it to this one!
Info: Paul Ridgway from The Curve will demonstrate a fresh take on Real Time Locating Systems (RTLS) using Bluetooth Low Energy. In this approach, the intelligence sits on the asset itself: a smart tag or lanyard that continuously tracks its position by talking to passive beacons as reference points. Unlike traditional RTLS, this removes the need for dense, expensive gateway infrastructure — only a few loosely placed gateways are needed to collect and offload the data. This live demo will show how the model opens up new ways to use RTLS beyond the usual manufacturing and healthcare scenarios, making location-aware IoT more accessible and adaptable than ever.
Info: Simon Ford from Blecon will then explore The Evolution of Bluetooth Beacons — looking at where they came from, where they’re headed, and what that means for anyone designing IoT systems.
Also check out other Nonprofit events in Leeds.
