Explore embossing techniques to produce subtle images on paper. The process uses no ink but creates raised and textured areas on paper using a range of different found materials. You will discover how to soak and use a range of papers to create embossed pieces using our traditional etching presses in the workshop.
What experience do I need?
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners in printmaking. For those who have previous experience it will be an interesting way of developing skills and exploring a new technique.
What will I make?
You will produce a unique collection of well-defined permanent relief patterns using natural materials and man-made objects. You’ll come away from the workshop with a series of up to 15 different embossed prints on a range of specialist papers.

Our aim is to bring printmaking to as many people as possible. By their nature, some printmaking processes involve an amount of physical effort. Leeds Print Workshop is based in a basement studio at Patrick Studios, a bespoke venue for artists operated by East Street Arts. It is fully wheelchair accessible, with a lift, larger than standard doors and disabled toilet facilities. We recognise that everybody’s accessibility needs may differ, therefore please email us at aGVsbG8gfCBsZWVkc3ByaW50d29ya3Nob3AgISBvcmc= to discuss any concerns you may have before booking. There is one dedicated disabled car parking space to the side of the building on Rider Street.
Please note: we regret that, for safety reasons, only those over the age of 16 will be permitted to undertake the course.
