Clay vases and boxes

Welcome to Slab building! During the two and a half hour course you will watch a demonstration of how to slice, measure and manipulate clay to create a geometric form. There will be plenty of resources to copy from. Depending on you skill, you can build a simple box form to a vase or container with a lid. The event will run from the bright, cosy art studios of Greenscapes Nursery, where you can also buy a plant, and perhaps make a pot to put in!

All materials, equipment and the firing of your work in a kiln is included in the price.

Adding colour and design

You will be able to add colour, pattern and texture to your work as it progresses. When your work is finished, it will be fired, glazed and fired again. This final process makes your work non-porous and food safe. It could take up to 5 weeks for your work to be completley finished and ready to pick up. This is due to the time it takes for the work to dry out completly and to be fired twice.
