Before starting her teaching career, Roanne worked as a floral and garden designer; her work has been featured in Fine Gardening, Horticulture Magazine, and This Old House. She co-authored Continuous Container Gardens: Swap In the Plants of the Season to Create Fresh Designs Year-Round, Storey Press, 2011.
