- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 01 May, 2026 at 06:00 pm – Fri, 01 May, 2026 at 08:00 pm (-05:00)
- **Event Description**: Kick off the 48th Elsie Quarterman Cedar Glade Wildflower Festival with an evening of discovery, history, and local pride.

Join us Friday night at Cedars of Lebanon State Park as Phil Hodge, Tennessee Division of Archaeology Director and Tennessee’s State Archaeologist, opens the festival with a fascinating presentation on the Archaeology of the Cedar Glades and Limestone Landscapes. Drawing from more than 30 years of archaeological work across the state, Phil will explore the deep human history hidden within Tennessee’s unique cedar glade ecosystems and limestone terrain.

A proud Wilson County native and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and The University of Southern Mississippi, Phil has spent decades uncovering and sharing Tennessee’s past. His work spans research, preservation, and public education, and his passion for the region shines through in every story he tells. Best of all, Phil considers Cedars of Lebanon his home park, making this presentation especially meaningful.

If you love Tennessee history, archaeology, or the natural wonders of the cedar glades, this is an evening you won’t want to miss.

Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Cedars of Lebanon and the MTSU Center for Cedar Glade Studies.

Come start the festival where history and landscape meet.
