1.      PROGRAM: “Tips for Cropping Photographs” by Clem Wehner. 

Cropping has always been a valuable tool for photographers to improve images and solve problems. This lesson will explain the right way to crop, the things to avoid, and tips for making your photos better.  You’ll learn techniques for good cropping, where to crop on people and animals, and what parts of the body should not be cropped. You’ll find out about avoiding tangents in your images, cropping in alternate shapes, eliminating distractions, cropping to the “Thirds”, cropping to add drama or special effects, experimental cropping, and preserving your image. You’ll even learn how the number of megapixels of your camera affects how you should crop images.  Should you use optical or digital zoom when cropping? You’ll understand how to crop in your camera by understanding placement of the subject in the field of view, or how you can crop later in photo processing.  This lesson will make your photographs better even if you are just using a cell phone camera. Don’t miss it. Add these tools to your photographer’s tool kit.

2.       PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE: Art and Architecture Scavenger Hunt

We are having a photo challenge this month. A list of 13 locations in and around Lawton have been identified (list on the website). Participants are asked to take photographs of these locations and send your BEST ONE photo to wichitawildlight@gmail.com. Please submit your photo (jpeg) by November 6, 2025 with the word CHALLENGE in the subject line. A slideshow of the submitted photos will be presented at the November 13, 2025 meeting.  Members will then vote for their favorite image. A prize will be awarded to the person who took the photo with the most votes.
