1. PROGRAM:
“Using your Cell Phone as a Camera” - Dwaine Horton. After 33 years as a professional photographer, Mr. Horton once swore he’d never use a cell phone as a camera—until technology proved otherwise. This practical, engaging class explores how today’s smartphones function as powerful “smart cameras” and how to get the best possible images from them. Topics include how phones handle lighting, composition basics that apply to any camera, proper shooting technique, and when (and how) to use manual controls like ISO and shutter speed. Whether you’re photographing for fun, travel, or work, this seminar will help you take clearer, more compelling photos with the camera you already carry every day.
2. PHOTO SHOW AND TELL:
If you’d like to share a few of your photos for the group to enjoy, please email them to
V2ljaGl0YVdpbGRsaWdodCB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t no later than two days before the meeting. Send your photos as .jpg files, if possible, and be sure to include the word SHOW in the subject line—otherwise, we might miss your email!
3. PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE: Reflections
Look for the world mirrored back at you! Capture an image where a reflection is a key element of the composition—whether in water, glass, metal, or any unexpected surface. Any camera is welcome. Submit one image and be ready to share where you found the reflection and what caught your eye. Have fun discovering reflections hiding in plain sight!
