Bundle up, buttercup—it’s time once again for that sacred winter ritual where Volkswagen fanatics migrate to Watkins Mill and willingly freeze their tailpipes off.
If you’ve never camped in single-digit temps with a bunch of laughing, shivering VW weirdos… brother, sister, you haven’t lived.
🔥 Who Can Come?
Absolutely anyone tough enough—or silly enough—to camp in the cold.
Bus? Beetle? Thing? You got a Jeep? Chevy? Minivan? No one cares.
If you enjoy VWs and poor life choices, you’re in.
🏕️ What To Expect:
• No reservations. No spreadsheets. No drama.
• Pay the Park Ranger on arrival ($23/night – two vehicles per spot).
• Electric sites! Yes, your tiny heater can battle the icy wrath of Missouri.
• Bring firewood, bring food, and bring enough blankets to outfit a small fort.
• Marvel as a lonely VW engine case meets its fiery destiny.
• Jeff Adams will absolutely show up with some bizarre contraption none of us asked for.
• Howard’s biscuits & gravy… legendary enough to thaw your soul.
• Saturday walk around the lake (optional but heavily peer-pressured).
• Dogs welcome, because their judgment is better than ours anyway.
• Tall tales, late nights, frozen noses, warm hearts.
• Zero regrets. (…Okay maybe like one or two.)
