Just like its current-day counterpart, Haskell Institute (the school’s name from 1887-1970) offered extracurricular activities like band, theatre, baseball, and football. These organizations provided exercise and bonding among students and added to Haskell fame.

However, this traveling football team didn’t have a true stadium to call home. Support for the school’s talented football squad led to the largest intertribal gathering in American history, the emergence of night football in the Midwest, and a war memorial stadium that still stands today.
