This FREE FUN RUN/WALK is held every year on the anniversary of Quantrill's Civil War raid on Lawrence. We gather to celebrate the COURAGE and RESILIENCE of all who rise like firebirds from the ashes of adversity, as Lawrencians did in 1863.

This celebration of CIVIC PRIDE is for EVERYONE. Walkers, runners, strollers—even well-behaved dogs and children—are encouraged to come. We want you there!

Meet August 21st at 4:50 a.m. (yes, A.M.) in front of  Ad Astra Running (835 Massachusetts) to be ready for the start at 5:05AM SHARP--the exact instant at which Quantrill launched his attack in 1863. Raiders found Lawrence asleep that morning, but NEVER AGAIN!

2026 DETAILS:
- There will be NO ACCESS TO INDOOR RESTROOMS; please conduct pre-run rituals at home.
- We’ll have FREE MIMOSAS (regular and unleaded) following the run/walk.
- LIMITED-EDITION SHIRTS will be available for purchase.
