Kaela Mei-Shing Garvin’s script is a companion to Our Town, reimagining the small-town American narrative through the eyes of a diverse group of teens coming of age in suburban California during the 21st Century. With metatheatrical insight, humor, and deep vulnerability, the play explores identity, grief, connection, and the quiet beauty of everyday life—from bonding over nostalgic music to wondering how not to repeat the mistakes of the past. It’s a story about what we inherit, what we choose, and how we define home. Directed by Tom Zhang, Visiting Assistant Professor at KU. Staged in the William Inge Memorial Theatre, Murphy Hall.
An ASL interpreted performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8.
This production includes adult language and themes. It may not be appropriate for all audiences.
