*LBC is starting up a fellowship group on the topic of addictions and finding lasting hope in the power of the Gospel.
*We will start meeting once a week on Thursdays at 6:00pm.
*Our first resource for changing lives is Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave by Ed Welch.
Edward T. Welch, MDiv, PhD, is a licensed Christian Counselor. He earned a PhD in counseling (neuropsychology) from the University of Utah and has a Master of Divinity degree from Biblical Theological Seminary. Ed has been counseling for over thirty years and has written extensively on the topics of depression, fear, and addictions.
“Explores addiction through a theological lens, arguing that the root cause is not genetic, but a disorder of worship, examining whether one worships personal desires or God. Addiction, according to Welch, is when we worship ourselves and our desires instead of the true God.”
