From moss-covered ancient rainforests and deep river gorges to snow-covered mountain peaks, wild alpine moorlands and glacial lakes, the park is revered for its diverse and breath-taking landscapes.
Wildlife is in abundance in this spectacular national park, giving you the opportunity to encounter Tasmanian devils, quolls, platypus, echidna, wombats and the highly inquisitive black currawong.
The Park also offers the world’s most famous Overland Track.
The Overland Track is Australia's premier alpine walk. This exhilarating and life changing experience attracts walkers from all over the world. Beginning at the iconic Cradle Mountain and ending at Australia’s deepest lake, Lake St Clair this 65 kilometre, 6 day trek takes you through the heart of the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park experiencing landscapes of glacially carved valleys, ancient rainforests, eucalypt forests and beautiful alpine meadows.
To finish the last leg of the adventure we will arrive at Narcissus Hut at the head of Lake St Clair where we will board a small privately run ferry to take as across the beautiful lake to the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre celebrate the completion of our journey. We will then also stay at the St Clair Lodge that night to shower, rest and recover.
Almost half of the Overland Track is above 1000 metres in elevation on exposed plateaus in a remote area. Thorough preparation and good gear is essential.
It’s no wonder the Overland Track has secured its reputation as one of the world’s great wilderness bushwalks.
The hiking part of this retreat will take up 6 days of the 8 day journey.
We will end up walking a minimum of 65km over 6 days and camp every night in well appointed and warm Overland Track Huts along the way.

Some sections of the track are long rough and steep. Also being an alpine region you can quite literally experience four seasons in one day, even including snow! This is why as part of this journey you will guided every step of the way and we will help you prepare over a 6 - 12 month period for this epic adventure.
Along the journey we will have opportunities to drop in along the trail for meditation sessions, Breathwork sessions as well as yoga and share circles at the end of each day.

From here you’ll walk beside the base of Cradle Mountain, enjoying the glacial views for 5 kms. Following this, you’ll enjoy the descent into the stunning Waterfall Valley where you’ll find the campsites and huts. Day 1 of our hike is considered by many to be the most difficult day of the Overland journey.

Day 2 of our hike will take us over the bottongrass plains and around alpine lakes. When we get to the section between Lake Will and Lake Windermere, you’ll be very exposed so consider clothing for wind and water. This section will have you travelling high across the plateau. When we arrive at Lake Windermere, there is the option for a swim near the Windermere Hut. This walk is relatively flat compared to the day before.

Again we will cross the buttongrass plains with some steep forested sectons including the Pine Forest Moor and eventually we will cross Pelion Creek. Following the creek, we will be greeted by beautiful rainforests with a gradual descent all the way through to Frog Flats where we will cross Forth River – this is the lowest section of the Overland Track at 730m above sea level. Then it’s a gradual walk through more rainforest that transitions to open eucalypts before arriving at Pelion Plains. The hut here is roomy, and has some epic views of the dolerite spires of Mt Oakleigh.

ACCOM: Overland Huts
7.00am - Wake Up
8.00am - Breakfast
9.00am - Begin Hike for the day
Overview of Day: 9.6km - 3.5-4.5 hours
Today is mainly rainforest walking with some waterfalls along the way. You’ll be surrounded by the rainforest for most of the day. After we pass the small clearing we will stop for lunch at the Du Cane Hut, and then most likely take the side trip option to see D’Alton and Fergusson Falls which are well worth a visit. When back on the main track, we will begin the climb to Du Cane Gap and once crossed we will start a steep descent to the Du Cane Range - sculpted by glaciers thousands of years ago. Arriving at camp soon after.
