Beyond Couch to 5k
It starts again on 5th April 2026.
Into its 4th year, Our Head Coach, Robert Richards has again reinvented our Beyond Couch to 5k programme to focus exclusively on achieving the Half Marathon distance using his proven and trusted run/walk technique.
Each Athlete will complete the Couch to 5k NHS programme which takes 9 weeks, followed by an enhanced programme to achieve double the distance, 10k. After which the following 9 weeks will focus on run/walk techniques to ensure each athlete will complete the Half Marathon distance.
The plan consists of 3 blocks of 9 weeks going through the various distance milestones.
Each milestone has its own 9-week plan all contributing towards the next goal if you chose to take it.
The only pre-requisite is to complete each milestone including a parkrun before embarking on the next phase.
The plan will consist of.
• Low intensity running
• Focuses on running and walking
• Increases in mileage, slowly!
• Building strength and conditioning as you go
• Training is integrated with our club sessions
• We encourage training in friendship groups or if it suits you better self-training by yourself
• Group training at some weekends
Including Physical training, technical training and running form tips along the way.
You can stop at the end of any stage if your personal goal has been achieved.

Start Couch to 5k training - Tuesday 7th April 26
Parkrun finale - Saturday 6th June 26
Start 10k training - Tuesday 9th June 26
10k event - Sunday 9th August 26
Start Half Marathon training - Tuesday 11th August 26
Half Marathon event - Sunday 11th October 26
