You’ll be encouraged to slow down and notice your body’s responses to different sensations as you work – and explore how feelings can shift into curiosity and fascination.Here's what to expect:Hands-on learning: Across two hours, participants will explore QVMAG’s newest acquisition, Eternal Returns – the new commissioned spider sculpture inspired by the natural sciences collection and featured in Sam Jinks’ exhibition.Expert guidance: Led by Launceston artist Moo, this workshop will guide you from initial sketches through to a three-dimensional wearable sculpture.Creative exploration: This workshop isn’t just about making your own wearable creature. It’s an invitation to experiment, express your artistic vision, and build a deeper appreciation for the natural world.Interactive experience: Connect with fellow young artists in a collaborative, supportive space. Bring a friend to enjoy our 2-for-1 special deal.About the workshopThis drop-in workshop is open for young people aged 14-17 of all experience levels who are curious about art and natural science.This workshop requires parental consent to participate.The registration fee includes all materials.This workshop will be held at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery, 2 Wellington St, Launceston.About the artistMelissa “Moo” Lubke (MA Therapeutic Arts Practice, AThR) is a Tasmanian multi‑disciplinary artist and Registered Art Therapist. Beginning her creative journey in rural NSW within her family’s printing business, she built a career in graphic design and multimedia in Sydney before returning to her passion for fine art, recognised early with the North Sydney Art Prize.Since relocating to Tasmania in 2006, Moo has expanded her practice through contemporary art, warm glass, and community work, culminating in a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice through MIECAT’s experiential model. Her trauma‑informed approach draws on lived and professional experience supporting communities navigating grief, neurodiversity, and psychosocial challenges.
