These tactile baskets that hang across the body are my own original design and a personal favourite. English rush is a lovely material to work with, a native wild plant with a long history in traditional basket making.

What you’ll learn
We’ll discuss the habitat, harvest and processing of rush (Schoenoplectus lacustris).

You’ll learn how to start your basket, weave the body and make a secure border. Then how to complete the basket with a corded cross-body strap.

You’ll leave with all the knowledge you need to make this basket, including information about other plants you can forage to make another.
